Multimedia News: Poonch (J&K): More than 2000 devotees participated in the shoba yatra Ganpati Visarjan in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch.

The idols of Lord Ganesha were immersed in Poonch River with full gaiety and fervor.

People took out huge procession while taking the idols to the river. 10-day Ganesh festival was celebrated with full fervor.

Army camp attacked in Kashmir's Kupwara, 3 terrorists killed

Three terrorists were on Thursday killed in an encounter with security forces after they attacked an army camp in north Kashmir's Kupwara district, the army said in Srinagar.

The terrorists opened fire on an army camp at Langate in Kupwara district around 5 AM, which was retaliated by the alert jawans, an army official said.

After repulsing the attack, the security forces launched a search operation in the area, during which the terrorists fired upon them, leading to an encounter.

"Three terrorists have been killed in the ensuing encounter and three AK 47 rifles have been recovered from the spot," the official said.

He said the operation was on and further details were awaited.

Three separatist militants were killed on Thursday in a gunfight that erupted after they attacked a counter-insurgency Rashtriya Rifles (RR) camp in north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
"Three terrorists were killed in the resulting encounter," Colonel Rajesh Kalia, spokesman of the Indian Army's Srinagar-headquartered 15 Corps confirmed to IANS.
"Heavily armed terrorists dressed in army fatigues attacked the 30 RR camp situated in Langate town of Kupwara district at 5.10 a.m. today (Thursday)
"The alert guards at the 30 RR camp in Langate located close to a civilian facility foiled the terrorists' attempt to enter the camp by breaching its security periphery," he said.
"The terrorist firing stopped for some time, but it started again at 6.30 a.m," he added.

What is the Indus Waters Treaty and can India abrogate it?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called a meeting on Monday for a briefing on the implementation of the 56-year-old river water sharing Indus Waters Treaty between India and Pakistan, reported the Indian Express on Monday.

The report added that the meeting will only deal with the complexities of the treaty and is not likely to involve any move or plan towards its abrogation by India, a move which has been touted by media reports as a possible form of retaliation against Pakistan for last week's attack on an army camp in Uri.
However, according to agency reports from Sunday night, the officials of the ministries of Water Resources and External Affairs have denied any such knowledge of a meeting being convened by the prime minister.
With India saying that there have been differences over the implementation of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, a dispute that was referred to an international tribunal under the aegis of the World Bank, the issue has come back into focus because of the current tension with Pakistan following the September 18 cross-border terror attack on an army base at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed the lives of 18 Indian soldiers.
