Facebook debuts 'Live Audio' on its platform, similar to podcast and radio

Android users will be able to continue listening to a Live Audio broadcast even if they leave Facebook app or lock their phones

Breaking News - After successfully rolling out the facebook  live video feature, Facebook has now introduced "Live Audio" option — like traditional radio or podcasting — in your News Feed where users will be able to broadcast audio directly to the social network.

"We know that sometimes publishers want to tell a story on Facebook with words and not video. Our new 'Live Audio' option makes it easy to go live with audio only when that's the broadcaster's preferred format," said Shirley Ip, Product Specialist, and Bhavana Radhakrishnan, Software Engineer at Facebook in a blog post on Tuesday.
"One thing we've heard is that partners want new formats for going live. We announced Live 360 last week, and today we're excited to announce another way to go live on Facebook," they added.

Facebook has witnessed some Pages find creative ways to go live and reach audiences with audio only by using the Facebook Live API or by adding a still image to accompany their audio broadcast.

In the due course of Demonetisation, RBI had also said that the depositor has to give an explanation as to why the old notes were not deposited earlier. Ratan Tata said what Mistry had done in the past four years should be recognised

How Cyrus Mistry was removed from Tata Sons on October 24.jpg
Monday, October 24, is a day former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry is unlikely to forget. The minutes of that day’s board meeting, which were included in Cyrus Mistry’s petition submitted to the National Company Law Tribunal, throw light on Mistry’s ouster.

2016, the year that was: Business and Economics

Millions of leaked documents, dubbed the Panama Papers, exposed the legal but dubious tax dealings

2016, the year that was Business and Economics.jpg
Around this time last year, the Coalition government was trying to manage the nation’s Business and Economy despite political shakeups, we were all watching a country on the verge of leaving the European Union, and some businesses were in the spotlight for behaving badly. Anyone getting deja vu?
As we look back at what made news in business news  and economics news in 2016, there is certainly a little bit of history repeating, in addition to some being made.
  1. Questioning China’s influence in Australia
  2. Changing industries
  3. Global waves beyond Australia’s shores
  4. Backpackers, 457 visa and migrant workers
  5. Company results
  6. Budget, election, budget update
As in the Trump and Brexit tumult overseas, Australians are also unhappy with inequality in the property marketsuperannuation and household incomes and wealth, just to name a few.
But despite all this tension, it should be calm around the Christmas dinner table. As long as no one mentions smashed avocado…

Donald Trump wins more than 270 Electoral College votes to formally become president-elect

An effort by anti-Trump forces to persuade Republican electors to abandon the president-elect came to practically nothing

Donald Trump wins more than 270 Electoral College votes to formally become president-elect.jpgus_970x60
There were many protesters but few faithless electors as Donald Trump won the Electoral College vote ensuring he will become America's 45th president.
An effort by anti-Trump forces to persuade Republican electors to abandon the president-elect came to practically nothing and the process unfolded largely according to its traditions.
Trump's polarising victory November 8 and the fact Democrat Hillary Clinton had won the national popular vote had stirred an intense lobbying effort, but to no avail.
us_970x60.jpg
Even one of Trump's fiercest Republican rivals, Ohio Governor John Kasich, said it was time to get behind the president-elect.
"We want unity, we want love," Kasich said as Ohio's electors voted to back Trump at a statehouse ceremony. Kasich refused to endorse or even vote for Trump in the election.
With Hawaii still to vote, Trump had 304 votes and Clinton had 224. It takes 270 Electoral College votes to win the presidency. Texas put Trump over the top, despite two Republican electors casting protest votes.

AIB, Phantom films, Dharma and more: Amazon banks on Bollywood for Prime Video

OTT service provider has long-term output deals with Dharma Productions, Vishesh Films and T-series

AIB, Phantom films, Dharma and more Amazon banks on Bollywood for Prime Video.jpg
Amazon's big bang announcement about its Prime Video launch in India shook up the industry not only because of the highly competitive prices, but also for its proposed content offers. It announced a total of 18 shows, nine of which are already in production, in collaboration with content makers like All India Bakchod (AIB), Phantom Films and Excel Entertainment.

However, the American e-commerce giant's content plans were in motion well before the launch, and by the looks of it, Amazon Prime Video will be depending heavily on India's love for cinema—Bollywood and regional.

The OTT service provider went on a deal signing spree and currently has long-term output deals with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Mukesh Bhatt's Vishesh Films and Bhushan Kumar led T-series. Apart from this, Amazon also has movies in Marathi, Bengali, Tamil and Telugu.

At its launch, Prime Video has titles as recent as Sultan, Baar Baar Dekho, Fan, Sarabjit, Kapoor and Sons, Kabali, and Raaz Reboot, all released in late 2015 or 2016. Through its various deals, Amazon Prime Video also has rights to premier Bollywood films on its OTT service before the television premiere. This should give the company an edge in terms of attracting customers.

Flipkart lists 'Amazon exclusive' OnePlus 3 at Rs 18,999

The company has put up a sale of OnePlus 3 device at Rs 18,999, which will start at 4 pm on December 18

Flipkart lists 'Amazon exclusive' OnePlus 3 at Rs 18,999.jpg
Of late, Flipkart hits the controversy by putting up a banner listing the sale of OnePlus 3 smartphone, which is exclusive to Amazon India, for under Rs 20,000 during the big billion sale, which started today i.e. on December 18.

While the listing brought a lot of attention from prospective buyers, it came as a shock to OnePlus CEO, Carl Pei who took to Twitter asking Flipkart’s co-founder Sachin Bansal to clear the ambiguity around the sale of OnePlus 3 on Flipkart.

The tweet saw no reply from Flipkart or from Sachin Bansal and soon Amazon India took to Twitter to warn customers to buy OnePlus 3 from Flipkart ‘on their own risk’.
There is still a lot of ambiguity around the issue, but for Flipkart things are as normal as they ever were. The company has put up a sale of OnePlus 3 device at Rs 18,999, which will start at 4 pm (IST) on December 18. On product page, the device details ‘1 year warranty’ on smartphone and ‘6 month warranty’ on accessories.
