A flash of silver, a dash of gold and a lot of shimmer - the 74th Golden Globes red carpet saw stars like Drew Barrymore, Sofia Vergara, Priyanka Chopra, Emma Stone and Nicole Kidman strutting their stuff in a dazzling array of couture gowns.

Stone, 28, dazzled in an elegant nude-coloured gown Valentino gown. The "La La Land" star kept the sophisticated side up with the addition of a Tiffany drop choker.
The Golden Globes red carpet 1.jpgKidman, who was nominated for her supporting role in "Lion", wore her "fairy" dress on the red carpet, opting for a shimmering Alexander McQueen gown, featuring intricate silver sequin embroidery and a frothy silk train.

Barrymore, 41, opted for a sparkly Monique Lhuillier sheath dress from the designer's Spring 2017 collection.

Indian actress Priyanka made her Golden Globes debut on a glittering note by choosing a "hand-embroidered" golden Ralph Lauren gown with a plunging neckline.

Two men in yellow and blue jackets tried to pull down a woman riding pillion on a motorbike near Batra Cinemas, investigators said.

Noticing the incident, police cautioned the two men, who appeared drunk, against indulging in hooliganism, the police said, adding CCTV footage shows the incident occurred between 11-11.15 pm.

Profession: Food delivery boy

What he did
Aiyappa is an ITI dropout, and stays with his parents in Kammanahalli. He works for a leading app-based food delivery firm. He is the main accused (No 1) in the case as he is the one who groped the woman, kissed her and dragged her to his friend sitting on the scooter. Before he joined the food delivery job, Aiyappa was a vagabond who used to hang around with friends and pass lewd comments on women walking around in the area.

 Name:  Leno alias Lenin Patrick
Age: 20
Profession: Food delivery boy

What he did
Leno Is a B Com dropout, and when he was studying in a private college, he got into bad company. He too stays with his parents. He works as a delivery boy for the same app-based delivery firm where Aiyappa is working. He is the one who was riding the scooter (in the footage) while Aiyappa was riding pillion. Aiyappa molested the woman, while Leno asked him to drag her to him so that he could also molest her.

Name:  Sudhesh alias Sudhi
Age: 20
Profession: Delivery boy

What he did
Sudhesh too is a delivery boy with the same firm. He is an eighth standard dropout and stays with his parents. He was waiting with his three other friends on the two-wheeler watching Aiyappa and Leno molesting the woman.

Name: Somashekar alias Chinni
Age: 24
Profession; Goods carrying vehicle driver

What he did
Somashekar is a 10th standard dropout working as a goods vehicle driver and stays near the victim's friend's house with his parents. He was the one who saw the victim for the first time in the area. Also, he is the one who spotted the woman returning home after a New Year party and hatched a plan to molest her.

Breaking News -  Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Nasim Zaidi on Wednesday announced a number of new measures for the upcoming assembly elections in five states.

Zaidi announced putting up of four posters at each polling station, informing the voters of locations of booths, and other Dos and Don'ts.

The posters were a statutory requirement at all polling stations, he said.

A voting assistance booth would also be kept at the polling stations.

Taking note of complaints received by the Election Commission (EC) in previous elections, the CEC announced that the height of the voting compartment would also be raised to 30 inches this time.

This was done to conceal the upper part of the body of the voters, the movement of which might give away the button they were pressing.

"This measure is being taken to maintain secrecy," Zaidi said.

The five states going to polls this year were Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur.

Today Latest News - Are you tired of stacking old gadgets, books, magazines, et al? E-commerce giant Amazon India has started a pilot programme in Bangalore that allows people to sell their old products. 
 
In an attempt to mobilise its user base and to encourage peer-to-peer (P2P) sales, Amazon has launched a programme called 'pick-pack-and-pay. 
 
 
So how does Amazon India's pick-pack-and-pay programme work?

Step 1 - List your product/products. Select what you want to sell on Amazon. (Post your new or used products online across different categories – mobiles, books, fashion jewellery, tablets, watches, laptops and video games). Upload your photo. Select the essentials of your product (For example:- brand name, model, publishers). Mention the item condition (new/used). Mention your price, address and other details

Step 2 - Post your ad

Step 3 - Buyers order your product online

Step 4 - You schedule a doorstep pick-up

Step 5 - Amazon picks, packs and ships for you

Step 6 - You receive your money in 3-5 days

Amazon has not yet specified how quickly orders will be processed, but mentioned that buyers will have the option to return products within seven days if defective or not as described.

News Headlines - The government stated on Monday that any consumer may decide to refuse to pay the service charge levied by a hotel or restaurant.
This is a regrettable pronouncement on a justified practice, stated a leading hotels association.
Many restaurants and hotels levy a service charge of 5-20 per cent, usually seen as a replacement for tips. This is apart from the service tax charged from the customers.

The Centre has told states to ensure that hotels and restaurants disseminate the information that their service charges are discretionary and voluntary, and consumers dissatisfied with the service can refuse to pay them.
The National Hotel Owners Association of India stated, later in the day, that inclusion of a service charge in a restaurant bill is a widely accepted practice, recognised by various state governments and the Centre, and reinforced through judicial pronouncements.
Also, that the levy is a matter of policy for an eatery, which should display it. Thereafter, it is for the consumer to decide if he or she wishes to avail of the facility offered at the place, the body said.

BHIM: Aadhaar-based app launched to simplify digital payments (What is BHIM App & How does it work)

Breaking News -  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched an Aadhaar-based mobile payment application called BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money).

On day 50 of the window provided by the government to citizens to exchange or deposit old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denominations, the Prime Minister at a 'Digi Dhan Mela' event in the capital, asked citizens to make at least five digital transactions, so as to understand the concept behind e-payments, and then use it extensively.
 
"Download it on a smartphone or on a feature phone. It is not necessary to have the internet for this app. In the next two weeks, one more work is being done, which will increase the power of BHIM so much that you would be able to withdraw money even with your fingerprints," he said.

BHIM is a biometric and rebranded version of UPI (Unified Payment Interface) and USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data). It is expected to minimise the role of plastic cards and point-of-sale machines, once believed essential for a less-cash society.

"In two weeks, we will make one more accomplishment; its security is being worked on. It will empower BHIM; you'll only require your thumb to pay," said Modi. He added this app would empower the poorest of the poor, with the thumb becoming the new identity.
